故事具体是这样的：由于一场不明原因的瘟疫成了人间地狱。所有被这可怕的病毒杀死的人都成了僵尸。莎若是一名研究员，她和一小部分军人是幸存者。他们共同寻找幸存者，但是机会很渺茫。他们下潜到了地下，以躲避僵尸。在地下基地，罗根教授正在试图用抓到的僵尸做实验，以求找到对付他们的方法。他的研究非常成功，他试图通过奖励的方法使僵尸和平与人相处。但是，这些对于军队的队长来说，却是不可接受的。
