日本
在日本，大多数人都信奉传统的神道教以及佛教，圣诞节的宗教气息淡薄，一般人鲜少注意圣诞节或平安夜的宗教意义。大多是年轻人受到商业炒作的影响，将圣诞节等同于礼物交换、狂欢节或是情人节的延伸，年轻人开派对，情侣往往在圣诞夜约会、吃大餐，造成餐厅与旅馆人潮远多于教堂的现象。
台湾
在台湾，原本只有占人口少数的基督徒以传统方式庆祝，然而近年受到西方文化的刺激，以及日本节目、ACG文化的影响，在年轻人之间兴起了过平安夜的风潮，庆祝的方式除了移植自日本及美国之外，许多地方还会举办圣诞狂欢舞会。此外，浪漫气氛浓厚的假期容易导致纵情，再加上未采取适当的避孕措施，平安夜后往往出现女性的堕胎潮。
香港和澳门
中国也非传统基督教国家，然而香港及澳门在殖民时期分别受到英国及葡萄牙的影响，平安夜是年轻人、小孩子以至所有人都会庆祝的日子。数以十万计的香港市民会到尖东欣赏圣诞灯饰，及到酒店吃自助餐；不少人会在平安夜交换礼物，年轻情侣则会到尖沙咀欣赏圣诞灯饰，开圣诞派对，或到兰桂坊等地狂欢，基督教及天主教徒则会参加报佳音等宗教聚会。平安夜也令不少年轻人在这晚“初尝禁果”，因此当地有“平安夜，失身夜”之说，香港家庭计划指导会、母亲的抉择等组织每年都接到不少求助。在澳门，每逢踏入十二月大街小巷都会粉饰得充满浓厚的欧陆圣诞气氛，圣诞树、马槽、彩带、灯色随处可见。在平安夜，年青人联朋结队到中区逛街，又喜欢到议事亭前地和大三巴牌坊欣赏分别由天主教会和基督教团体所举办的圣诞报佳音。到了午夜，澳门各堂区的天主教堂分别举行圣诞子夜弥撒，尤其以主教座堂人数最多，圣诞钟声遍及全城，即使非天主教的市民也喜欢到教堂感受圣诞节的宗教气氛。而澳门的皇朝区亦人潮如鲗，年青人到酒吧狂欢佳节。
